We are half-way through our 40-Day prayer journey! More than anything, prayer is a humble
admission that ultimately, the power of life and the power to navigate life
does not come from us, but from God. This truth is most clearly seen in times
of hardship and challenge. As the Apostle Paul states in 2
Corinthians 4:7-10,
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
In the humility of prayer, we bow down to One greater than
ourselves – greater than anyone or anything – acknowledging our dependence on
Him and His ability to show Himself ultimately powerful in all things. We
therefore proclaim, along with the Psalmist that,
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.Amen.
